Keep It To Ourselves
04:22
|
|||
Everything was so harmonious,
shouldn’t have said a word to anyone,
gave away our secret,
silence is a golden one.
It was like we saw each other
for the first time way back when
lotus blooms sweet aroma
it put us in a spin.
Next time, Next time,
We’re going to keep it to ourselves.
I couldn’t get enough
like a drunken bumble bee
returning 27 times
to fill my hollow knees.
I knew this had to be the one,
to last for eternity,
cause it was so harmonious,
and I was feeling so free.
Now if that’s not like the weather,
my names not Quinton B. Still,
must have thought the wrong thing,
now someone has sent me the bill.
Now we’re just around the corner,
from what we used to have,
one small move in any direction,
can change the harmony you had.

Open Up Your Door
06:35
|
|||
open up your door
It’s so quiet at this time of night
and I could use a place to hide
Martha open up your door
there’s no time for me to explain it all.
I got trouble following me
and it just won’t go away
they’re hungry for my blood
and may chase me to my grave.
I need you to hold me tight
this is like a bad dream in the night
I’ve done nothing to anyone, that I know of
now they chase me, from the world I love
because I speak, my mind openly
and I have, nothing good to say
about how they rule this world.
I was at the capitol calling for peace
they came down hard with tear gas and billy clubs
chasing us like we were the criminals
hoping to break more than our hearts.
Now the president is calling for pain and torture
as a means to protect our blessed homes
oh Martha please open up your door soon
they state their intensions clearly,
and don’t even try to hide it anymore.
You’ve know me since we used to climb trees
I would never have even hurt a flea
now in times like these, I watch just what I’m thinking
Martha please open up your door, to the spirit of Mr. Lincoln.

Time Is Slipping Away
04:21
|
|||
time is slipping away
Time is slipping away
Time is slipping away
You can’t stop it
I can’t stop it
Some would try to, if they could
But I don’t want to, unless you would
Come and slip away with me.
When I hold you close to me
there’s no time to waste
I tell you how I love you
with each kiss I place.
Nothing is so important
it can wait a day or two
let’s embrace our sweet illusions
and dance the whole night through.

Wagon Full Of Devils
04:10
|
|||
a wagon full of devils
A wagon ... full of devils
A wagon ... full of devils
Drove by my house , and left a message for me
hung it on the door, saying we won’t let you be.
Sweet ... sweet temptation
Sweet ... sweet temptation
Smells so good like a young thing should
ripe with envy, desire and greed.
Better run ... better run
Better run ... better run
Wagon full of devils, standing in your way
laughing in your face and they just won’t go away.
Going to chase me ... from the only world I know
Going to chase me ... to the bottom of the sea
Better think about what you’ve been thinking about
I think it’s time to make a quick get away.

Golda's Ukelele
06:35
|
|||
golda´s ukelele
I gave you a ukelele
to love like I love you
you don’t need to learn to play it
because when it sings it’ll talk with you
It tells stories, hears your secrets
whispers softly in your ear
you are loved, my little darling
when I’m close or far from here.
When I hear the ukelele play,
you’re not far away
when I hear the ukelele play,
it’s like old time music on the radio
when I hear the ukelele play,
it takes me back to when I was a boy
when I hear the ukelele play,
I wish that you were dancing round my chair.
You may play the ukelele
I may strum on my guitar
we’re going to sing on top of the world
under the bridge, where the river flows by.

Monastery
04:44
|
|||
monastery
Take a break from the madness
take some time alone
take a train to the outskirts
of some forgotten unknown
where no one can remember you
no one really cares
what you’ve done or what you do
who you love or what you choose.
Going down to the monastery
Going down with you
Going down to the monastery
Going to love the whole day through.
There ain’t no cross on the front door
ain’t no sign of the seven sons
ain’t no way to bring you back baby
when you’re feeling so at one
everything is sliding by
but you are standing still
if someone asks where’d she go
I’ll just smile and say,
she went down to the river to sit under some big shade tree.
Paint yourself in a corner
in shades of black and white
everybody wants to tell you
how to live your life
follow all the customs yeah
memorize all the unwritten rules
and if you can’t see eye to eye and your heart says no
you may find you need to spend some time alone.

life insurance with the nra
I was paging through a magazine
while waiting on some luck
somewhere on the back pages
it hit me like a truck
What I read gave comfort
a balsam for the weary
the answer to my prayers
to save a tired soul.
I bought life insurance from the NRA
in case I show up DOA
I’ll have some money to leave my kids
and that’s important to me
I bought life insurance from the NRA
in case I show up DOA
this could be the piece of the puzzle
that I’ve been looking for.
Now at 16 I joined the Army
at 20 the Marines
fighting in the Korean War
and only God knows why anymore.
Came home from the battle
nothing was the same
it cost me my two sons
when the end of my marriage came.
Haven’t worked much in 40 years
the nerves just came undone
the VA doesn’t care about old vets
and now they have so many young ones.
Now I just turned 77
and I’m not doing so bad
you can see me sweeping up at 6am
down on Main and Goodhope Ave.
Dreams have come and dreams have gone
with the passing of the days
but when it’s my time to slip into the night
the river’s going to carry me away.

If You Ever Wake Up
04:54
|
|||
if you ever wake up
If you ever wake up
tears are going to flow
deserts will be flooded
flowers will begin to grow
born from all the years of struggle
passed down through the years
If you ever wake up, you’ll know you’re not alone.
If you ever wake up, you’ll know you’re not alone.
If she ever wakes up
she will be amazed
at the beauty and bounty
birds singing in mysterious ways
a rush of wind through the trees
the sheer brilliance of a billion stars
If she ever wakes up, she’ll know she’s not alone.
If she ever wakes up, she’ll know she’s not alone.
If the world should ever wake up
some will fall to the ground
choking on grief, seeking relief
from hunger and violence that abounds
and people left alone with their pain,
others look away in disdain
If the world should wake up, they’ll know they’re not alone.
If the world should wake up, they’ll know they’re not alone.

Chuck LeMonds Austria
Chuck LeMonds’ music is a kind of Country Soul gumbo of blues, folk, funk and country with poetic lyrics that call to be heard. In times like these, the music and songwriting of Chuck LeMonds has the effect of a soothing balsam for the soul, or that of a plow turning over fresh soil in a field waiting to be planted in spring. ... more
